“A Second Chance at Christmas”

Loosely based on “A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens”

This story follows the life of a Deacon named Scott.  He is a faithful member of a respected church.  Scott has everything, anyone could ever want in this world, however; he is missing the one most important thing he will NEED in life and that is a personal relationship with Christ.  Scott is so self-involved, that he doesn’t even see the struggle, his nephew Joe is facing.  Joe and his family can barely make ends meet, and to top it off; Joe’s son, Jesse, is gravely ill.  In Scott’s mind, the only important thing is making money.  His selfish actions cause him to be visited by four different Angels; all on the night before Christmas.  Will this event open Scott’s eyes and lead him to seek a second chance?

This production was first performed in 2006, at St. Mark Baptist Church and then later at the University of Toledo, Doreman Theater.  The role of Scott was played by Clifford Majors;  Joe was played by Steven Dewberry, and the role of Jesse was played by Toledo’s own Darius Coleman.  This play also introduced the dynamic “Vocals” of Dramatically Inspired Works Productions.  Musicians: Rev. Michael Johnson, Marquis Baker and Wayne Harris.

The House I Live In©

This play tells the story of Pastor David and his family, even the man of God’s “house” can be tested. In this play David, his wife Lana and their youngest son Justin have to take a look within themselves and access their faith and truly walk with Christ. Most of us feel we have sufficient faith and we share God’s word to our fellow man, however there are those times in our walk of life when we find ourselves questioning God’s methods. Through their trials and tribulation the family comes to realize that God has fought their battle for them and blocked the enemy from succeeding.

Our second play production debut in December of 2007 at the Maumee Indoor Theatre. It has also been performed at the Collingwood Arts Theatre.  Toledo’s own Tawann Gaston played the role of Pastor David. Once again our hearts were stirred again by the Dramatically Inspired Works Vocals in songs of Zion. The vocals were under the musical direction of the Rev. Chris McQueen and Rev. Michael Johnson. Playing drums was Marquise Baker and on bass guitar Wayne Harris.

Solomon, a man of faith, is a handsome, charming, architect, and writer. He is very successful and the ladies love him. One day he meets a woman by the name of “Zirah”. Love can sometimes be motivated by the wrong reason and cause you to change in order to keep it. “Obedience is better than sacrifice and seeing love is not always being loved.”

The third production of Dramatically Inspired Works, debut at the West Toledo YMCA in 2010 and again in 2012. Toledo’s own Tawann Gaston played the role of Solomon in the 2010 production. In the 2012 production Toledo’s own Rev. Christopher McBrayer played the role of Solomon. This play our dynamic vocal group uplifted the name of Jesus in “Total Praise.” The vocals were led by musical director Arielle Campbell. Musicians in 2010 were Mark Small on keyboards, Wayne Harris on bass guitar and Isiah Johnson on drums. In the 2012 performance Phillip J. Conley Jr. played keyboards, Wayne Harris on the bass guitar and Isiah Johnson on the drums.  In the 2010 & 2012 productions the Glass City’s own gospel group, “The Difference” were the Diamond Lounge musical performers, showcasing their god given talent singing background vocals for Zirah.
